Turure Waterfall

The Turure River located deep in the evergreen valley of Cumaca is one of the most fascinating ecological gems of the Northern Range. The river has a series of picturesque waterfalls, jacuzzis and magnificently carved water staircases ideal for bathing. It is a nature love's dream and photographer's will be delighted with it's uniqueness. Its source comes from the limestone region of Platanal and exploring upstream one can discover at least four cascading waterfalls.Visiting the river is best done in the rainy season, when the water level is high and the falls are in their true glory.
.. The trek begins at the Turure Bridge on the Cumaca Road and  takes under forty minutes to reach the main falls .The trail which runs alongside the river may be sometimes muddy and has several crossings at ankle level .The limestone that aligns the river bed makes it less slippery for walking and rappelling up and down the falls is always a hiker's delight .Along the way visitors are greeted to the echoing sounds of the boisterous bell bird which can be heard  through out the forest. For those seeking a more adventurous route, there is the option to trek to the quarry where the trail situated opposite to an old landmark cross will lead you downstream to the falls.
In recent times extensive quarrying have caused pollution to the surrounding rivers ,forest and endangerment to wildlife.  For more details visit Islandhikers.com or call Mario 749-2956
