Paragrant Beach

Paragrant Beach .....Sun28th Aug'11

Overlooking the valley of Maraval there is a hidden gem called Paragrant Beach or Mal D'estomac Bay.There is something magical about this place, is it the refreshing breeze blowing across The Paramin Hills or could it be the breath-taking views of the surrounding valley. To the south there is La Silla or Saddle Road ,The Moka Estate now known as the Moka Golf Course,The Champ Elysees Estate called Fields Of Happiness or Country Club,The Paradise Estate or Queens Park Savannah. To the North excellent views of Saut D'eau Island, La Vache Bay ,Caribbean Sea and to the west the chive valleys of Paramin and Cameron .

The hike starting location is on the Fond Pois Doux Road located three miles on the Maracas North Coast Road. The downhill trek to the beach will take an hour through enchanting forest of abandon cocoa and coffee estates once owned by french overseers. The lone villagers Dougla and his family welcomes all visitors to stop have a drink of water and sample some seasonal fruit. It's a pleasure to hear him speak about the variety of plants that surrounds his kingdom and the fruits of his labour can be seen all around the valley.

Paragrant Bay during the summer months of July and August is at it's finest and most enticing for bathers. At the beach evidence of nesting turtles can be observed in the silky smooth sand. There is a stream with an invigorating pool to further refresh oneself.

The return trek is on a steep semi- concrete private road and will take about 1 1/2 hours to reach the area where the vehicles are parked. The serenity of the valley, the splendid views of Timberline ,Cyril Bay,Lovers Bay and Negmawah makes this challenge walk enjoyable.Reaching the top of the ridge hikers smile saying "what a wonderful hike ".For more information contact mario749-2956 or Islandhikers.com
