North Oropuche

The North Oropuche River remains one of the most spectacular water courses in the Northern Range .It's source originates from the limestone region of Aripo and it submerges through the mountains to exit at the bottomless Guacharo Cave in Cumaca. It flows in a southeast direction through the evergreen forest of the Cumaca Valley in a Zig Zag course supplying water to WASA North Oropuche Treatment Plant for the people of Sange Grande ,Arima and West Ward.The rocks along the river path is covered with calcium carbonate (CACO3 )deposits making it less slippery for walking.The river has created a v shaped valley as interlocking spurs jut out on each side of the bend, the view of it's path is blocked.The small tributaries that drain into it's channel create plunge pools,natural spas and  waterfalls .The popular bathing spot on the Valencia Road  known as the Valencia River is really the middle course of the North Oropuche River.
