The Madamas River is one of the most fascinating places for nature lovers to visit but because of it's remote location few can boast of been there..The source of its water comes from a distant part of the forest called El Chiquero where the June 3rd 1934 plane crash site of Mikey Ciprian occurred. The Madamas waterfall is situated six miles east of Brasso Seco Village and getting there will take two hours on a mostly flat forest trail that includes some up and down inclines. The falls has a single drop and at the base there is a shallow pool for bathing.
The trek to the falls begins 3 miles on the Madamas Road where the vehicles are securely parked .The journey consist of three legs each with its own uniqueness .A 45 minutes forest walk ,followed by a uphill and downhill trek and a 30 minute upstream walk to the falls.Exploring beyond the falls for a further fifteen minutes you will be delighted to discover two smaller waterfalls nestled in the mountainous valley of El Chiquero. On the return please support The Brasso Seco Vistors Centre 669-6218 for light refreshments.
