Macajuel Pond
Set in the spectacular panoramas of the Brasso Seco Valley ,Macajuel Pond is an unforgettable adventure that will reconnect ,renew and revitalize you. The exploration starts two miles from the village on the Madamas Road and the trek to the river is a pleasant one hour walk that ends into the heart of the Madamas rain forest. Spreading across the valleys of the trail are lush green christophene plantations which add beauty to the landscape.Along the way the Sobo River crosses the trail path and a ten minute diversion to the right will lead you to the sensational Double River Falls .
At the river there are two routes to access Macaquel Pond the first option is to proceed downstream to the junction where the Madamas and Soho River join forces or hike over the mountain to the top of the gorge. Going through the gorge is a pleasant experience and jumping into the seven foot pool creates anxiety and a feeling of accomplishment to the adventure. Life jackets will be provide to all hikers and exploring the river does require getting wet and swimming through shallow pools. Hikers are advised to bring along a water proof container to secure their electronics items such as car remotes ,cell phones,cameras and leave change of clothing and valuable items in the vehicle.
From Macajuel Pond the Madamas River flows for a further ten miles to exit at Madamas Bay.This area is one of the most far fetch places in Trinidad and exploring the river took the group over twelve hours to return to camp at Paria.
