Double River

The village of Brasso Seco,located sixteen miles north- east of Arima, on the Arima-Blanchisseuse Road is a nature- lover paradise.This pristine landscape with streams flowing from some of the highest peaks of of the Northern Range El Cerro Del Aripo (3085 ft) and Mt. Bleu (1779ft) can boast of having eleven waterfalls.The area is still widely used for the cultivation of cocoa, coffee and other cash crops and the name Brasso Seco translates "dry branch".Visitors will find it fascinating that hidden in the folds of the Northern Range this eco-treasure exist.The population is about 350 persons and there is a RC Church, School,Health Centre,Bar and Visitors Facility.
       The hike starts two miles east from the Visitor's Centre on the Madamas Road and the distance to Double River Falls is two miles on a wide open dirt road.The terrain is mainly flat with a few mild inclines and the presence of  large christophene plantations growing alongside the boarders of the trail enhance the  magnificence of the landscape. The waterfall is approximately 89 feet high and at the base there is a shallow pool ideal for bathing.At the gateway to the waterfall the river adjoins with the Sobo Waterfall tributary as it crosses the trail in it's route to the Madamas River.These two tributaries have complimented to the name Double River Falls.   
             On the return journey ,hikers are welcome to stop in the village and pay a visit to the Visitors Facility to purchase delicious pastelles,home-made cakes,sweets and ice-cream.The hike to Double River falls is rated easy and suitable for the entire family .Brasso Seco Village with it quiet ambiance,picturesque waterfalls and scenic countryside is in true alignment with the flow of nature.The warm and friendly villages welcome all visitors to their adventure land and request that they maintain a clean scene.
