There is always a feeling of accomplishment to be able to climb Trinidad's tallest and most challenging peaks.

D Brutal is the name given to The Ultimate Challenge Hike that attracts old ,young ,experience and novice hikers willing to put their fitness to the test. The hike organised by Fitness Walkers is now in it's fourth year and it's popularity and enthusiasm seems to be increasing among adventurers.The seven hour circuit course starts at Hobal Trace in Lloango Village,Maracas St.Joseph and consist of four legs each with it's own trials.The challenge is to climb the twins peaks of Mt.El Tucuche (3072 feet), then descend to Maracas Bay and with tired legs ape up the gruesome Lloango Mountain .

Trail Description

 

Leg 1 .Morang- Hobal Trace to El Tucuche Summit .From Hobal Trace a 10 minute warm up walk to the Morang River. Then a steep trek up the agonizing Devil Staircase to the Summit of Mt El Tucuche.Hiking time (1 1/2 -2 hours depending on your fitness).

 

Leg 2 :From the summit of El Tucuche to The Cross. A steep descend from the second peak of Mt.El Tucuche to The Watershed between the valleys of Maracas and Las Cuevas.There is an Iron cross identifying the burial site of Sister Beatrice who once lived on this spot.(Hiking time 1 1/2  hours)

 

Leg 3 : The Cross to Maracas Bay. from the juction at The Cross a downhill trudge to Maracas Bay (hiking time 1 1/2  hours ).

 

 Leg 4: From Maracas Bay over LLoango Mountain  back to Hobal Trace.The steep climb over LLoango Mountain is the ultimate test for your already aching muscles.(hiking time 2 hours)
