Asa Wright Nature Centre established in 1967 to promote the natural history and conservation of wildlife in the Arima Valley.The Centre comprising of 1500 acres of tropical rain forest is 8 miles from the town of Arima and is located on an old cocoa and coffee plantation known as Spring Hill Estate.The funds from the centre are reinvested in education ,agriculture,community outreach ,research and land conservation programmes.Trinidad being so close to the mainland has over 425 species of  birds and Asa Wright is a bird-watcher's paradise as photographers with their fancy telescopic lenses come from all corners of the globe to The Legendary Veranda to take pictures of  toucans,tanagers,antbirds oropendolas,bananquits ,honeycreepers,motmots and hummingbirds . 
At the center visitors can  tour  the various bird trails, then take a dip in the refreshing pools and have lunch from some of the best cooks in the world .Visitors staying three nights and over are taken on a tour to Dunstan Cave to see the oilbirds.It is a relaxing experience to sit on the veranda feeling totally aligned with nature, having organic refreshments as various species of exotic birds and animals passby.
