Angel Falls Trinidad

Angel Falls is situated on the northern foothills of Mt. El Tucuche. This secluded and mystical fall's is given the name Angel because of it's celestial appearance .There are two main routes to access the fall's the simplest is from the Maracas North Coast Road while the more invigorating route is from LLango Village in Maracas,St.Joseph.
The hike starts in a secluded settlement called Zorro Trace located two miles east of Maracas Bay in the direction of Las Cuevas Beach and can be done as a circuit where you start upward on the left hand side of the valley and return downward on the right hand side. It takes 45 minutes to reach the base of the falls and the trek begins alongside the river path that leads to a steep ascent into the forest. Towering majestically over the landscape, like guardians to the village are the twin Peaks of Mt El Tucuche (3072 feet) where the source of the river originates. The river is essential in supplying water to the  land-owners who earn their living by the cultivation of cocoa, citrus ,tomatoes and other small cash crops.Overlooking the village there is an adventure land nature resort that welcomes visitors to enjoy the splendor of the environment .

Optional Trail # 2

The hike starts by the WASA pump on top of the steep hill at the end of concrete road in Lloango Village and  takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to reach the falls. The vegetation is mainly old cocoa and cultivated crops .Between 1592 and 1783  when St.Joseph (San Jose De Oruna ) was the capital this bench trail was widely used to transport agricultural produce and also as a major crossroad to get back and forth from the North Coast Road .Leg 1 of the journey is to trek to the top of the watershed that separates the valleys of Las Cuevas and St Joseph. On the right fantastic views of El Tucuche twin peaks can be seen majestically through out the valley. At the top of the ridge there is a landmark of an iron cross where the remains of an old baptist woman called Sister Beatrice is buried there .
